What to do when a swap completes but the tokens never appear in your wallet

First, check the swap site's order history for a completed status and the exact transaction ID. If the site shows the swap as finished but your wallet shows nothing, the most common cause is that the tokens arrived at a different address than you expected.

Start by verifying the transaction on a blockchain explorer. Copy the transaction ID from the swap site and paste it into the relevant block explorer for the blockchain you were sending to. Look at the "to" address in the transaction details. Compare it to the wallet address you think you provided. People frequently paste an old address, copy an address that belongs to a different wallet, or accidentally include extra characters. If the destination address is wrong, the tokens are gone - no swap site can reverse a blockchain transaction.

If the destination address is correct, look at the token contract. Many blockchains allow anyone to create tokens with the same name and ticker as a legitimate coin. The swap site may have sent you a fake version. The transaction will show the contract address of the token that was sent. Compare that contract address to the official one for the token you expected. If they differ, the swap site routed you a worthless token. Some swap sites do this intentionally; others route to a different liquidity pool by mistake. Either way, that token is not what you wanted.

If the destination address and token contract are both correct, the tokens may simply be hidden in your wallet. Many wallets only display major tokens by default. You may need to manually add the token contract address to your wallet's token list. This is especially common on newer blockchains or with recently created tokens. Add the contract address to your wallet and check the balance again.

If none of these steps reveals the tokens, the swap may not truly have completed. Some swap sites mark an order as complete the moment they broadcast the transaction, before it confirms. A pending transaction can take minutes or hours depending on network congestion and the gas fee attached. Check the transaction status on the block explorer. If it shows as "pending" or "unconfirmed", wait. You cannot speed it up from the swap site. The blockchain resolves it eventually - or the transaction fails and the funds return to the sending address. If it fails, you can try the swap again with a higher fee.

What if the transaction is confirmed but the tokens are still missing, and all checks above pass? Contact the swap site's support. Provide the transaction ID and the order ID from the site. Some sites can manually investigate a failed internal routing. Others will tell you the swap is final. There is no guarantee of recovery. Do not send more funds to try to "unlock" missing tokens. That is a common scam pattern. Do not give anyone your seed phrase or private keys. A legitimate support agent will never ask for those.

If the swap site refuses to help or goes silent, the loss is permanent. Blockchain transactions, once confirmed, are irreversible. The only remaining step is to treat it as a lesson: verify every address twice, test small amounts, screenshot every confirmation page, and use only swap sites with a clear, verifiable reputation.
